I do maintain that if your hair is wrong, your entire life is wrong - Morrissey
Throughout our lives we spend time and money on our hair, growing, cutting, shaving, styling, curling, dying, highlighting, straightening and the list goes on. Hair is thought by some to be the most important part of your look. It may give you confidence, it may complement your features, it may make you feel better, may give you confidence, it may make you feel like you are in control.
Every day we lose hair. It’s normal to lose hair, between fifty to a hundred hairs per day, on average. That means a pile of up to thirty thousand hairs in a year. Hair loss is not usually anything to worry about. Occasionally it can be a sign of a medical condition. If you are concerned about excessive hair loss, your head itches or you notice something unusual with respect to your hair or your scalp consult an expert.
How do we take good care of your hair and our scalp? Please refer to the mind map below that summarises the do’s and don’ts of “Hair and Scalp Care”. Some of our recurring themes are there, good sleep, good diet (good nutrition), including micronutrients and as would be expected the dedicated hair treatments. On the “reduce side” there are also recurring themes of reducing, smoking, alcohol and stress. Finally, heat is not a good friend of your hair as are chemicals and some hair colouring products.
I recently released a podcast “Everything Hair and Scalp” with Andrea Clark a trichologist who shares her thirty years of experience. The link to the podcast is below. Have fun.
