Myalgic Encephalomyelitis (ME) also called Chronic Fatigue Syndrome ME/CFS , is a complex and debilitating medical condition characterized by extreme fatigue or tiredness that does not improve with rest and is not caused by any underlying medical condition. It is a chronic condition, typically lasting at least six months or more. It is more common in women and tends to develop between the mid 20s and mid 40s
While there is currently no cure for ME/CFS, there are treatments that may help manage the condition, focussing on relieving symptoms and improving quality of life. Treatment is primarily supportive and individualized to address the specific needs of each person.
I recently recorded a podcast with Bernice Lee. Bernice explains and gives insights into the condition of ME/CFS. As she explains it’s a serious, long-term illness that affects many body systems. A complex debilitating disease which causes acute fatigue, including other symptoms such as common pain.
Bernice tells her story of her ME/CFS journey. At its worse in 2022 Bernice was partially bedbound and mostly housebound. She shares her experience, an experience that has not always been easy. Bernice shares many great insights and take aways from her journey. Insights that the listeners can take advantage from in their everyday lives.

It's important for individuals who suspect they have chronic fatigue syndrome to work closely with healthcare professionals who are knowledgeable about the condition and can provide appropriate guidance and support.
